Head of Human Resources @ Vanguard Logistics Services | HR Business Partnering POSITION SUMMARY The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining global data and voice network and network security controls for the company. The role is accountable for continual planning and implementation of optimal network and security standards and practices for all networking systems in the enterprise. The position requires analyzing and handling advanced support issues. Ultimately, this role is responsible for the functional management of the network, the delegation of tasks to the network support team, and the resolution of network issues. The Senior Network Engineer should have extensive experience working with enterprise networks, managerial, communication and good project management skills. RESPONSIBILITIES Network Design & Optimization: Architect, implement, and enhance LAN/WAN and cloud-based data and voice network environments that support Vanguard’s global operations. Network Operations: Lead support resources to assist with network monitoring, troubleshooting, procurement and implementation activities. Install, manage and maintain core network components—routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and VPNs—ensuring high performance and minimal downtime. Provide leadership for network support globally. Troubleshooting & Support: Lead complex troubleshooting efforts and provide expert guidance to regional IT teams. Provide Level-2 and Level-3 support for infrastructure and customer issues or incidents. Work with ISP and Vendor support to troubleshoot and escalate outages and problems. Security & Compliance: Enforce security best practices, monitor for vulnerabilities, and ensure compliance with global IT policies and standards. Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hotfixes, and security configurations. Implement and manage tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the security team. Performance Monitoring: Use network monitoring tools to proactively identify bottlenecks, optimize performance, and ensure uptime across the organization. Documentation & Standards: Maintain accurate network documentation, configuration records, and change logs. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, and Application teams to align network capabilities with business needs. Project Leadership: Drive or support regional and global network projects from planning through execution. Vendor Management: Coordinate with third-party vendors and service providers to ensure timely delivery and support of network solutions. JOB SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience. Experience: 8–10 years of hands-on experience in network engineering or infrastructure management within a multinational or enterprise-scale environment. Certifications: CCNA Routing & Switching certification is required. Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE), or equivalent. Expertise in routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless infrastructure – Palo Alto, Cisco ASA and Firepower, Meraki MX appliances and Cisco Nexus switches. Extensive experience with Cisco products is required. Advanced knowledge of platform operating systems (Cisco router & Switch platforms, Cisco ASA, etc.) and their interaction with other network devices Strong understanding of network protocols and concepts such as DNS, ARP, SNMP, OSPF, BGP, IPSEC and IPv4/IPv6 routing. Experience with SD-WAN and cloud networking (Azure, AWS). Experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS, and other network security technologies. Advanced skills in gathering requirements and designing/implementing/supporting network solutions. Good understanding of WAN/LAN/Wireless internetworking, protocol interoperability, network architecture development, and requirements for testing / proof of concept.
