Job Description Key Responsibilities
Have considerable knowledge and work experience with enterprise routers, switches, VPN concentrators, firewalls, wireless access points, and load balancers, including documentation, setup, configuration, upgrade, management, and troubleshooting.
Be capable of troubleshooting network‑related infrastructure.
Identify and diagnose system problems using line monitors, diagnostic software, and test equipment.
Work closely with agency IT infrastructure suppliers and stakeholders to gather accurate requirements, specifications, and configurations.
Assist in troubleshooting and resolving network issues impacting application performance and uptime.
Oversee installation, documentation, and upgrades of facility data network infrastructure.
Collaborate with cloud and DevSecOps teams to optimize hybrid connectivity and SDWAN configurations.
Provide documentation such as network architecture topology diagrams, IP schemes, firewall rules, and access controls when required.
Work independently on assigned projects.
Hold at least one industry standard networking certification (e.g., Cisco CCNA, Juniper JNCIA‑Junos).
Skills Matrix
8+ years of hands‑on experience with enterprise routers, switches, VPN concentrators, firewalls, wireless access points, and WAPS.
8+ years of ability to design, install, and troubleshoot local‑area and wide‑area enterprise networks.
8+ years of engineering and design experience in the networking industry.
8+ years of experience creating repeatable, reliable, scalable network architectures with fault tolerance.
8+ years of experience in performance tuning, monitoring, statistics/metrics collection, and disaster recovery.
8+ years of experience creating network diagrams with industry‑standard tools such as Visio.
8+ years of experience with networking protocols such as ARP, CDP, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, VTP, EtherChannel, HSRP, QoS, multicast, IPsec.
Desired: 3+ years of experience with SDWAN, cloud networking, and network topology related to cloud.
Must hold or be working towards an industry standard networking certification (e.g., Cisco CCNA, Juniper JNCIA‑Junos).
