Sr. Geotechnical Engineer | Geotech Department Manager . CTL Engineering is an award-winning, full-service consulting engineering firm with 15 locations across OH, IN, WV, KY, NC, SC, and VA with a long history in business. We provide civil/site design and land surveying, environmental, geotechnical, construction administration & inspection, and other specialized services to the construction industry. This role is a PE-credentialed Sr. Geotechnical Engineer who will lead the Geotech Team as Department Manager and perform geotechnical explorations and investigations for our clients. This is an opportunity to contribute to projects from concept development to final execution and to guide projects through every stage of land profile evaluation. Highlights Projects range across infrastructure, industrial, commercial, and unique engineering types, with a focus on DOT-related roadway and airport/runway work. Projects are typically located within a 60-90 mile radius of the Brunswick office (southern Cleveland); extensive travel is uncommon and overnight travel is rare. A company vehicle can be provided or reimbursement for personal vehicle use. Based out of the Brunswick, OH office. Responsibilities

Perform geotechnical explorations, site characterizations, slope stability assessments, and risk evaluation for developments. Train and supervise lab technicians; maintain quality reviews and certifications; manage equipment inventory and calibration; assist with client marketing and proposal preparation. Develop and mentor lesser-experienced engineers (EIs and new PEs). As the North Ohio Department Manager, oversee the northern OH region (operations, P&L, scheduling, oversight) while performing personal production and managerial duties. Track project progress in timeline and budget/profit-loss terms. Assist Marketing with technical aspects in generating proposals. Oversee quality of work (QA/QC) and provide project direction, including preparing lab testing assignments, reviewing documents, and testing results for content and accuracy. Prepare geotechnical engineering reports and interact with clients on technical aspects of projects. Review soils laboratory test results and assist in planning and execution of subsurface investigation programs (including locating test borings, coordinating underground utility clearance). Design development and analysis of earth embankments, retaining structures, and anchoring systems; perform analysis and design of shallow and deep foundations and slope stability. Monitor and enforce quality control standards and specifications. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong communication skills. Ability to read design drawings. Ability to meet schedules. Experience with geotechnical software or ability to utilize software with minimal training. Self-motivated, reliable, quality-minded, and detail oriented. Minimum Qualifications

12+ years of experience in consulting engineering on various civil projects. P.E. credentialing is required. Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. Master’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology is a plus, but not required. Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Must be willing to travel and be physically able to maneuver on open terrain. Benefits
