Jacobs . We have a great opportunity for a Mid-Level Geotechnical Engineer to join our Columbus, Ohio office and be part of the Geotechnics Group for the Midwest region. The successful candidate will follow projects from concept through construction, working on current and upcoming design-bid-build and design-build projects in highways, rail, water, environmental, ports, and advanced facilities sectors. Location options include Columbus, Cleveland, or Cincinnati, OH, with Columbus preferred. Base pay range $90,000.00/yr - $145,000.00/yr Posting date: September 15, 2025. This position will be open for at least 3 days.
Responsibilities
Lead geotechnical aspects of the design of shallow and deep foundations, earth retaining structures, and slope stabilization measures. Coordinate and prepare geotechnical specifications and prepare data, baseline, and interpretative reports. Follow projects from concept through construction on design-bid-build and design-build projects in various sectors. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure geotechnical considerations are incorporated into design and construction.
Qualifications
BS in Civil or Geological Engineering 5-10 years of geotechnical consulting experience Professional Engineering (PE) license Experience with ODOT projects and standards Ability and willingness to visit and safely navigate construction and project sites and comply with all applicable safety codes and requirements Strong verbal and written communication skills Experience with exploration methods, geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring, and laboratory testing of soil and rock Knowledge of design of shallow and deep foundations, earth retaining structures, embankment and cut slopes, and slope improvement Preparation of technical reports, design drawings, and specifications Proficient with Microstation and/or AutoCAD Familiarity with geotechnical analysis software (e.g., SLIDE, SETTLE3D, LPILE, APILE, Shaft, DeepEx, GRLWEAP)
