Overview Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutor (TSRP) – P09766

Tallahassee State College (TSC), in partnership with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) State Safety Office, is offering a grant-funded TSRP position that will work remotely with FDOT. The role supports prosecutors, State Attorney’s Offices, and law enforcement in the effective prosecution of impaired driving cases. What You’ll Do Report to the Traffic Safety Administrator at the Florida Department of Transportation and assist prosecutors, State Attorney’s Offices, and law enforcement in impaired driving prosecution. Implement the direction of the Florida TSRP Program as designated by the FDOT State Safety Office. Assist in drafting yearly concept papers and budgets, annual subgrants, quarterly reports, subgrant paperwork, and budgets. Assess training needs of prosecutors and State Attorney’s Offices, focusing on effective prosecution of impaired driving cases. Coordinate and develop DUI training seminars, including agendas, content, instructors, locations and logistics. Prepare and present lectures on DUI law, trial issues, and related concepts. Maintain and update the Florida TSRP website for prosecutors and law enforcement on traffic issues, impaired driving prosecution, and related topics. Provide technical assistance to prosecutors and law enforcement, including answering legal questions, distributing materials and studies, and creating legal memoranda on current issues and proposed legislation effects on DUI prosecutions. Provide in-court technical assistance to State Attorney’s Offices in DUI prosecution as time permits. Work with law enforcement to explain prosecutorial policies and interpretation of caselaw to foster cooperation and strengthen prosecution strategies. Lecture at law enforcement, impaired driving, and related seminars and conferences. Attend related seminars to stay current with traffic safety training techniques. Develop and maintain relationships with FDOT, Tallahassee State College, and other organizations such as NHTSA, NAPC, NTLC, other TSRPs, and traffic safety advocates. Who We’re Looking For We’re seeking a candidate with technical expertise and a passion for education and student success. Our ideal candidate will have: Juris Doctorate from an accredited college or university. At least two (2) years of professional experience as an Assistant State Attorney (ASA) in impaired driving prosecution. Licensure as an attorney and membership in the Florida Bar in good standing. Additional Requirements Flexible schedule with frequent evening and weekend work and travel, based on State Attorney’s Offices needs. Main responsibility area is north Florida; must be able to travel around the state. Upon appointment, residence in Florida north of Gainesville is required. Vehicle provided; valid Florida driver’s license with satisfactory driving record required. Additional Disclosures Position classified as Standard Class within the Florida Retirement System; not considered SMS or High Risk. May not practice law outside the TSRP Program and may not accept outside employment. Bonus Points If You Have Skills in Microsoft Office and Adobe. Litigation experience with DUI trial practice. Experience training adults. Experience using Westlaw and legal research. Ability to audit invoices and track payments; ability to understand and apply applicable rules and procedures.
