The anticipated annual base salary range for this role is

$152,500 – $200,000 , plus equity. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, qualifications, and performance. U.S. citizenship/persons as required by iTar requirements and eligibility to obtain a security clearance required Position details

We’re partnering with an advanced aerospace organization seeking a

Hypersonic Mechanical Lead

to lead structural design and integration efforts for a next-generation flight vehicle program. This is a high-impact leadership role guiding a multidisciplinary team through design, build, integration, and testing phases to achieve challenging performance and structural goals. Ideal candidates will have hands-on experience developing prototype or experimental flight vehicles and a strong background in structural, thermal, and mechanical systems from concept through first flight. Key Responsibilities

Lead a team of structural, mechanical, dynamics, and manufacturing engineers to deliver high-performance vehicle structures Collaborate with systems leads and program leadership to drive key technical and programmatic outcomes Oversee structural development, vehicle layout, and trade studies for optimal performance and manufacturability Provide technical authority for the structures subsystem, including design decisions and review approvals Guide the structural systems engineering process, including requirements management, configuration control, and risk-based testing Manage and mentor team members through regular check-ins, feedback, and performance evaluations Lead structural design and integration reviews to support build, test, and flight readiness milestones Partner with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers and subcontractors, to ensure technical alignment Support cross-functional vehicle integration activities and flight test campaigns Demonstrate strong leadership, integrity, and commitment to program success Occasional travel may be required to support program objectives Qualifications & Skills

Required: Experience in one or more areas: structural design, loads, structural-thermal analysis, mechanical systems, aircraft or launch vehicle integration End-to-end experience developing prototype or experimental flight systems Leadership experience in structural design or analysis Expertise in composite structures design, analysis, and manufacturing methods Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and subcontractors Proven risk management and decision-making capabilities Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Experience with complex aerospace system development and integration Ability to prioritize and adapt within a dynamic, fast-paced environment Preferred: Experience supporting hypersonic or supersonic flight programs Familiarity with air-launched vehicle systems Knowledge of composite materials (BMI or epoxy pre-preg) Experience planning and executing structural testing campaigns Technical Skills

Required: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Configuration management tools (e.g., Jira, Git, Jama) 3D CAD proficiency (SolidWorks or CATIA) Preferred: FEMAP and NX NASTRAN for structural analysis Programming experience in Python, C++, or MATLAB Education & Experience

Senior Level:

Bachelor’s degree with 5–10 years of engineering experience, or equivalent Staff Level:

Bachelor’s degree with 10–20 years of engineering experience, or equivalent Full-time onsite position based in

Mojave, CA
