Job Summary:
A registered nurse employed by Erlanger Health System is responsible for the practice of nursing according to the rules and regulations defined by the state's Nurse Practice Act, Erlanger's Models of Care/Practice, policies and procedures. The nurse is responsible for the delivery of patient care as assigned and for the supervision of other qualified staff to whom the nurse has delegated patient care in the exercise of his/her independent judgement. The nurse addresses physical, spiritual, behavioral, emotional, and educational needs of the patient and coordinates the plan of care with other healthcare professionals. The nurse is responsible for participation in and completion of all patient safety initiatives appropriate to the position. In addition, the nurse conducts all job responsibilities according to the Mission, Vision, and Values of Erlanger Health System.
Education
Required:
Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program.
Preferred:
Graduate of an Accredited four year Nursing Program (BSN)

Required:

Preferred:
Previous behavioral health or ED experience.
Position Requirements (License/Certification/Registration)
Required:
Current, unrestricted North Carolina RN licensure, or Multi-State Nursing Compact Licensure.
BLS completed prior to going to the unit/department and maintained going forward. De-escalation training certification in recognizing, reducing, and managing violent and aggressive behavior (example: MOAB Training) must be obtained within 6 months of hire and maintained ongoing thereafter.
The Nurse Licensure Compact details apply; NC licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state must be obtained within three months of hire for non-North Carolina residents.
Department Position Summary
Responsible for providing direct and indirect care to patients with behavioral health diagnoses who present to the Emergency Department (ED).
Determine priorities of care based on physical, mental, and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the system.
Communicate with Emergency Department providers about changes in patient status, symptomatology and diagnostic results; respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.
Meet established Nursing Standards of Practice for assigned patients; manage supplies, medications, and equipment; promote teamwork within and with other departments.
