Position An exciting opportunity has arisen for a

Senior Pharmacist Dispensing Services

based at

University Hospital Crosshouse & Ayr . This vacancy is offered on a secondment/fixed term basis for 1 year.

What You Will Do The post-holder will lead, deliver, develop, manage and evaluate the operational and clinical aspects of dispensing to all health care areas on Acute Hospital Sites, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and standards. You will fulfil the role of the Responsible Pharmacist in dispensing services to ensure that all activities are carried out in compliance with relevant legislation and standards. You will provide expert advice in all pharmaceutical matters specific to dispensing services, relating to the care of individual patients, and contribute to the wider development and improvement of pharmaceutical services to patients. You will be accountable for the safe and cost-effective use of medicines within the areas of practice. You will be supported to undertake a clinical commitment in accordance with the needs of the service.

The successful candidate will be part of the Acute Services Senior Team and will work alongside Technical and Clinical senior staff in decision making relating to all aspects of the pharmacy service. You will be required to participate in departmental rotas as outlined in the contract associated with this post. In future, in accordance with AfC Terms and Conditions, you may be required to work over 7 days and/or an extended working day.

Qualifications Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

Master of Pharmacy Degree or Equivalent

Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council

Post-Registration Foundation Programme for Pharmacists (or demonstrable evidence of clinical knowledge equivalent to that level)

Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or RPS Core Advanced Curriculum (or demonstrable evidence of clinical knowledge equivalent to that level, or currently working towards this qualification)

Practice certificate in pharmacist independent prescribing (or currently working towards this qualification)

Experience

Relevant clinical pharmacy experience at a senior level

Evidence of experience in service provision and development and an ability to examine current practice and develop and implement innovative solutions for improvement

Knowledge

Expert level of clinical pharmacy knowledge, skills, clinical reasoning and judgment

Advanced knowledge regarding medicines, medicines legislation and practice

Advanced arithmetic skills

Expert knowledge and understanding of standards and guidelines

Advanced interpersonal and influencing skills

Advanced communication skills

Hours 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am-4.30pm with weekends in accordance with departmental rotas.
