Assistant/Associate Professor-Social Work — The School of Social Work at Fayetteville State University (FSU) invites applications for a tenure-track, nine-month faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor beginning Fall 2026. The successful candidate will teach at the BSW and MSW levels, maintain office hours, mentor students, engage in scholarly activities, participate on academic committees, and provide school, college, professional, university, and community service. The candidate should maintain professional competence and knowledge of subject matter pertinent to the specialization area. Salary/rank is contingent upon qualifications. The ability to teach online is required. Responsibilities

Teach social work courses at undergraduate and graduate levels, including online courses. Engage in scholarship and publish in refereed journals; participate in service to department, university, and community. Maintain office hours and mentor students; contribute to cross-teaching at BSW and MSW levels; participate in academic committees. Minimum Education and Experience

Assistant Professor: PhD or DSW (ABD candidates considered; doctorate must be conferred before employment start date). MSW from an accredited MSW program. Two years post-MSW professional social work practice experience. Associate Professor: PhD or DSW. MSW from an accredited program. Five years post-MSW professional social work experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Excellence and commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching; strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Superior verbal and written communication skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office, Canvas, Zoom, Teams, SharePoint, and related tools. Professional competence and knowledge of subject matter; ability to use Canvas and innovative technology in the classroom. Ability to obtain external funding through grant writing; ability to engage in scholarly activities. Preferred Qualifications

Assistant Professor: At least 1 year teaching at BSW/MSW levels; commitment to scholarship and service; two years post-MSW experience; LCSW, LCAS, and CCS/CSI credentials preferred. Associate Professor: At least 5 years of higher-education teaching; 3+ refereed publications; 3+ professional presentations; 2+ funded grants; 4+ documented service experiences; LCSW, LCAS, CCS/CSI.
