Overview

Chief Information Officer role at Forsyth County, Department of Management Information Services. Provides executive leadership in planning and directing the activities of the MIS Department. Responsibilities

Plan, administer and direct the Management Information Services Department. Supervise IT staff, fostering a culture of accountability, service, and continuous improvement. Oversee the management of enterprise systems, networks, applications, and data infrastructure. Collaborate with County leadership, departments, and external partners to align IT priorities with county goals. Ensure the security, integrity, and confidentiality of County data and systems through robust cybersecurity policies, risk management, and disaster response and recovery protocols. Direct the development and implementation of IT policies, standards, and procedures to support efficient service delivery. Lead technology innovation, modernization, and digital transformation initiatives that improve organizational effectiveness and public service. Manage IT budgets, contracts, and vendor relationships to ensure cost-effective and reliable technology solutions. Review major new system work for adequacy of concept and design; review specifications for equipment and supplies. Serve as technical advisor on information services to the County Manager and Department Heads; provide periodic reports to the County Manager and Board of County Commissioners as necessary. Attend conferences to stay informed about improvements in information services; perform related work as needed. Minimum Education And Experience

Graduation from a four-year college with a degree in computer science, business administration or related field, and at least six years of progressively responsible computer systems experience, three of which are at the supervisory level. A Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field is preferred. A valid drivers license is required. There is a residency requirement for Forsyth County Department Heads: the selected candidate must become a resident no more than 180 days after the first day of employment as Chief Information Officer. This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's CJIS Security Policy and requires successfully passing a more stringent criminal background check.
