Senior Utilities Engineer (Specialist) (JC-496328) - Energy Division / Distribution Planning Branch / Grid Resiliency and Microgrids California Public Utilities Commission is seeking a Senior Utilities Engineer to join the Energy Division, focusing on grid resiliency and microgrids. This role involves research, analysis, project lead responsibilities, and collaboration with other analysts and engineers to support utility regulation, policy development, and ratemaking. Responsibilities
Research, review, analyze, and act as project lead on topics pertaining to utility regulation, policy development, and ratemaking. Conduct complex electric policy and technical analyses for decision-makers and Energy Division management; may lead projects with other analysts or engineers. Lead or direct work on review, research, analysis, and preparation of presentations, reports, resolutions, data requests, legislative bill analyses, letters, and other written and/or oral work products regarding microgrids, grid resiliency, distribution system planning, general rate cases, and matters pertaining to utility safety and reliability. Hold workshops as necessary and prepare briefing materials with recommendations for Commission action to division management and decision-makers. Travel occasionally (5% or less) to other CPUC offices as needed. Qualifications and Requirements
The position requires a Professional Engineer License; a copy of the license must be provided prior to hire. STD 678 (application form) used to determine qualifications; describe all relevant experience related to public utilities and/or transportation in economics, finance, or policy, including years and months of service. Special Requirements and SOQ: Prepare and submit a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) addressing three questions about data analysis experience, policy writing and presenting recommendations, and project management/leadership; SOQ must meet formatting and length requirements as specified.
