Overview
Senior Utilities Engineer (Specialist) (JC-496337) - Energy Division / Distribution Planning Branch / Grid Resiliency and Microgrids at California Public Utilities Commission. The Energy Division is seeking a Senior Utilities Engineer to join a team of energy professionals working on grid resiliency and microgrids. Responsibilities
Research, review, analyze, and act as project lead on topics pertaining to utility regulation, policy development, and ratemaking. Conduct complex electric policy and technical analyses for decision-makers and Energy Division management. Lead projects or work with other analysts or engineers; direct work on review, research, analysis, and preparation of presentations, reports, resolutions, data requests, legislative bill analyses, letters, and other written and/or oral work products related to microgrids and grid resiliency, distribution system planning, general rate cases, and other matters pertaining to utility safety and reliability. Hold workshops as necessary; prepare briefing materials and give briefings with recommendations for Commission action to division management and decision-makers. Travel occasionally (approximately 5% or less). Qualifications and Requirements
Professional Engineer License required. Copy of license must be provided prior to hire. Experience described in the job duties should demonstrate ability to perform economics, finance, or policy analyses related to public utilities and/or transportation, including data gathering, synthesis, and communication of findings. Ability to prepare and submit statements of qualifications (SOQ) with detailed examples addressing data analysis, policy writing, and project leadership as part of the selection process. The position requires a Professional Engineer License. You will be required to provide a copy of your license prior to being hired. Application Instructions
