Kforce has a client in Baltimore, MD that is seeking a Senior Accountant. This role ensures compliance with grantor regulations, oversees post-award financial activities, and supports strategic financial planning through accurate reporting and analysis. Base pay range
$42.00/hr - $56.00/hr Responsibilities
Manage post-award grant activities including revenue recognition, invoicing, and reconciliation Ensure compliance with federal regulations including OMB Uniform Guidance, A-133 audits, and other applicable standards Prepare and submit timely and accurate financial reports to grantors Maintain detailed records of grant expenditures and ensure alignment with approved budgets Lead month-end and year-end close processes for grant-related accounts Prepare financial statements, budget variance reports, and audit-ready schedules Conduct complex reconciliations of general ledger accounts, including grant receivables, payables, and deferred revenue Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings Collaborate with program managers to develop and monitor grant budgets Provide financial guidance during budget planning and execution phases Forecast grant revenues and expenditures to support strategic decision-making Serve as the primary liaison for external audits related to grants Assist in the preparation of audit documentation and responses to findings Implement and maintain internal controls to ensure financial integrity and compliance Utilize accounting software (e.g., Sage Intacct, MIP, Oracle, NetSuite) for financial tracking and reporting Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy Support integration of new grant management systems as needed Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required) CPA or CMA certification (preferred) 5-10 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in grant accounting Strong knowledge of GAAP, federal grant regulations, and audit procedures Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas); experience with accounting systems such as Sage Intacct, MIP, or Oracle Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate across departments Experience in nonprofit, education, or government sectors is highly desirable Preferred Skills
Experience with international grant accounting and foreign currency conversion Familiarity with restricted vs. unrestricted funding and deferred revenue recognition Ability to manage multiple grants and complex financial data sets Benefits and additional information
