Overview Bandai Namco Amusement America, a leader in the arcade and amusement industry for over 40 years, is looking for a determined individual to join our team as a Project Engineer on-site in Itasca, IL.

This person will be a leader in our manufacturing endeavors and assist in crafting unique 3D designs, becoming a key proponent of our arcade game development process. As a bridge between the manufacturing and product development sides, this position will require critical understanding of project management, manufacturing component evaluation, and translating design decisions through 3D designs.

Ability to work on-site at our office in Itasca, IL is essential. This is not a remote position.

What you’ll do

Engineering Proficiency

Support and planning of the manufacturing of new amusement machines and accompanying parts based on direction from management within the team and pre-existing knowledge.

Forming 3D models and 2D drawings of assemblies or parts suitable for mass-manufacturing.

Identify and adapt to different product requirements (electrical wiring and connections, displays, motors, computers, etc.) and understand how to incorporate them correctly into new or existing products.

Ensuring that designs meet pre-determined cost and quality standards while meeting build schedule deadlines.

Work with our in-house team to turn manufacturing goals into successful prototypes and machine iterations for mass-manufacturing.

Assist in small scale 3D printing on the in-house resin machine.

Manufacturing & Project Management

Lead and manage manufacturing/engineering and design projects across a multidisciplinary team.

Assist in managing subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery.

Collaborating with our partner companies to create unique experiences for Bandai Namco fans while adhering to industry standards.

Participate in weekly meetings with the Production Team and our key manufacturers.

Occasional (less than 10%) travel to our primary manufacturer in Wisconsin to assist in quality control checks on pre-production lines.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Expertise in SolidWorks.

Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Management, or related field.

(Suitable experience may substitute for a degree.)

1-2+ years of project management experience.

3+ years of hands-on engineering and design experience.

(School projects are applicable.)

Experience working on large-scale objects such as furniture, appliances, etc.

Knowledge of fabrication methods relating to metal (laser cutting, extruding, stamping), wood (routing, milling, jointing), and plastic (injection molding, vac-forming, roto-molding, 3D printing).

A creative perspective on project ideation and fabrication.

Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Deep understanding of the 3D product production pipeline and ability to manage multiple projects.

Comprehension of orthographic (2D) and isometric (3D) designs and ability to communicate essential information to others.

Ability to prioritize jobs and assist in making individual critical decisions.

Exceptional interpersonal skills and positive attitude to communicate seamlessly with team members at the company and with external clients.

Bonus Qualifications (not required but appreciated):

Experience in SolidWorks PDM.

Other 3D software proficiencies (Creo, Rhino, Autodesk Suite, etc.).

Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.

Experience designing or being an artist/designer.

Portfolio or shareable collection of past projects.

Past work on arcade or pinball machines.

Pay range: $50,000-80,000 annually
