As an Amazon Fleet Remediation Project Design Mechanical Engineer, you will lead design projects in operational data centers, remediate issues, upgrade existing infrastructure, or add new services. You will be the go‑to engineering resource for these projects and provide lifecycle support from design through implementation, using your mechanical or electrical expertise.

Responsibilities

Own the design for existing data center upgrades and design solutions that add infrastructure, increase capacity, improve availability, and/or enhance sustainability.

Perform design and equipment submittal reviews for data centers in your region.

Interface with internal and external data center design engineering teams, server hardware, environmental health and safety, field engineering, and controls engineering to promote consistency and reliability.

Work on concurrent projects, sometimes across multiple geographical regions.

Act as a technical subject‑matter expert for your discipline during new remediation projects.

Support construction, commissioning, operations, and turnover.

Qualifications

Possess strong engineering judgement and can provide design recommendations despite uncertainty.

Be detail and data‑oriented with familiarity with design and construction processes.

Have experience managing engineering projects and engineering consultants.

Build trust and relationships with stakeholders such as Operations, Commissioning, Construction, and Design teams.

Manage design and as‑built drawings and documents.

Prepare and present progress reports to all relevant stakeholders.

Be inclined to visit the field to see things up close.

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.

1+ year of design experience in mission‑critical facilities (data centers, power generation, oil/gas facilities).

Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region.

Knowledge of commercial or industrial power systems or mechanical systems.

Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment or mass production.

Direct experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission‑critical facilities, especially data centers.

Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.

Basic understanding of both mechanical and electrical equipment/design related to data center electrical and mechanical topology.

Each day you will interact with different teams responsible for all aspects of the data centers, prioritizing activities that support safety, remediation projects, capacity, and availability.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $86,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
