Overview
TEKsystems is seeking a Core IP Network Engineer II or III for a 2-year 100% remote contract. The role focuses on engineering design and implementation to support the company's IP/MPLS core network, carrier Ethernet transport systems, cellular data core systems, and video transmission services. The engineer will provide technical leadership, escalation support, and mentorship to team members, with strong collaboration across internal departments. Responsibilities
Plan, design, implement, and document new network implementations. Test new technologies and service architectures in lab environments. Complete engineering estimates and installation packages as needed. Provide escalation and troubleshooting support for operations teams. Mentor and train more junior staff to expand technical knowledge and experience. Work with IP/MPLS core networks, carrier Ethernet transport systems, cellular data core systems, and related services. Requirements and Qualifications
Must have 7+ years of experience with Core IP Network Engineering/Design in enterprise environments; preferably from an ISP environment. Experience with MPLS, ISIS, BGP, Nokia equipment, Juniper equipment, MOP creation, and Layer 2/Layer 3 networking. High-level understanding of standard engineering concepts such as high availability, redundancy, reliability, scalability, and security. Advanced experience configuring Alcatel/Nokia, Cisco, Brocade, or Juniper routers and switches. Advanced understanding of routing protocols (BGP, ISIS, OSPF, EIGRP, etc.). Strong project management, troubleshooting, and communication skills. Knowledge of RSVP, LDP, and PIM; data center network design; and common transport technologies (Ethernet, SONET, TDM, Fiber, Microwave, Satellite, Wi-Fi, cellular). Extensive experience with layer-2 Ethernet technologies (VLANs, STP, LACP, MC-LAG). Certifications relevant to the discipline are highly valued (e.g., Juniper JNCIA/JNCIS, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Nokia NRS I/II, Brocade BCNE/BCNP). Minimum four years of relevant and progressive technical experience in a Carrier Ethernet or large ISP environment. High School diploma or equivalent required; a Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred. A combination of work experience and education may substitute for the required years of experience; graduate degrees may substitute for professional experience on a year-for-year basis. Skills

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on job classification and length of employment.
