Research Nurse (Department of Medicine - Infectious Diseases)

The Division of Transplant Surgery and the Department of Medicine's Division of Infectious Diseases Transplant Research Center (TRC) is seeking a Research Nurse to implement and oversee single-center and multi-site national studies related to organ sources and transplant research, including organ donation from donors with HIV and hepatitis C, and COVID-19 in the transplant recipient population. The successful applicant will work well in a fast-paced, collaborative atmosphere and maintain a high degree of independence, with a focus on participant well-being and long-term outcomes through research and clinical care. Responsibilities

Study Management – Pre-Study: anticipate research requirements for designated patient populations; collaborate in development and writing of protocols and consent forms; assist in regulatory documents and IRB submissions; identify concerns about new protocols with senior staff and PI; propose alternatives to improve protocol implementation. Study Management – Pre-Initiation: design data collection methods; ensure compliance with local and national regulatory standards; collaborate with study team and pharmacy to prepare drug data sheets; monitor IRB approval/requests for information; ensure all elements of a trial are in place before accrual; communicate with protocol sponsors and cooperative groups to address issues with the PI. Recruitment & Enrollment; Data Collection & Document Maintenance: recruit participants within protocol timelines; collect pertinent data from internal and external sources; monitor compliance with trial requirements; communicate protocol deviations to the study team for documentation or regulatory submission; perform/schedule study-related tasks (e.g., investigational product handling, phlebotomy, sample processing and shipping, urine collection, vital signs) as outlined by the protocol. Evaluation & Oversight: provide nursing and research support adhering to protocol mandates; coordinate with clinical teams to ensure standard of care; evaluate participant response, toxicities, dose modifications, adverse reactions; assist in determining adverse event causality; assess barriers to participation; educate participants and families on study procedures and medications; participate in informed consent. Quality Assurance: assist with development and review of SOPs; maintain records of correspondence (faxes, emails, IRB submissions, etc.). Other: manage multiple projects at different stages; collaborate with team on study results for presentation/publication; may co-author manuscripts or presentations. Qualifications

Required: Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Maryland; current CPR certification; maintain licensure and certification during employment. Education/Experience: additional education may substitute for required experience; JHU equivalency formula applies for substitutions. Preferred: Bachelors Degree in Nursing or related discipline.
