Assistant Controller, Prime Financing & Capital Markets

We’re seeking a highly skilled Assistant Controller to join our finance team, focusing on Prime Financing and Capital Markets, to drive accurate and compliant accounting for complex digital asset lending, borrowing, derivatives, and other structured products. The ideal candidate will have deep technical accounting knowledge (US GAAP/IFRS), strong capital markets experience, and the ability to apply principles to crypto-specific contexts. You will help build scalable processes, strengthen internal controls, and provide financial analysis for our institutional offerings. Our work culture is intense and collaborative. In-person participation is required throughout the year, with team and company-wide offsites held multiple times annually to foster collaboration and alignment. Responsibilities
Develop and maintain accounting processes for prime financing and capital markets, ensuring GAAP/IFRS compliance and crypto-specific guidance. Apply standards such as ASC 815, ASC 860, and ASC 825 to activities including crypto lending/borrowing, derivatives, and prime brokerage services. Oversee accurate recording of transactions: interest, trading gains/losses, fees, and collateral movements. Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements for prime financing and capital markets. Design and maintain SOX-compliant internal controls addressing crypto-specific risks (e.g., custody, smart contracts, private key management). Collaborate with Product, Risk, and Legal teams to assess accounting implications of new products and ensure proper system setup. Identify opportunities to automate and improve accounting processes using blockchain data and external tools. Conduct P&L and balance sheet analysis, support audits, and monitor regulatory requirements affecting digital asset services. Assist in preparing regulatory filings and disclosures for prime financing and capital markets. Manage and mentor accounting teams and lead projects related to financial infrastructure and new product launches. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation required. 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with at least 4–5 years in prime brokerage, capital markets, or complex financial instruments accounting within a financial institution (e.g., investment bank, hedge fund, broker-dealer). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to apply accounting principles to novel crypto transactions. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex issues to technical and non-technical audiences. Highly detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. Experience with SOX compliance in a financial services context. Proficiency with large ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle) and advanced Google Suite skills. Nice to haves
Experience with a crypto prime brokerage or institutional digital asset firm. Familiarity with crypto accounting software or blockchain analytics platforms. Experience with multi-currency accounting and FX impact on financial instruments. Deep understanding and hands-on experience with digital assets, blockchain technology, and cryptocurrency markets; familiarity with crypto protocols, DeFi concepts, and common use cases. Pay Transparency: The target annual salary range is $201,365—$236,900 USD plus bonus, equity, and benefits. This role may be eligible for other compensation as applicable by location.
