Utility Worker II - Special Duty Assignment at King County, WA. The Building Operations Section (BOS) in the Facilities Management Division (FMD) seeks reliable candidates to join the Utility Worker team as a Utility Worker II in a Special Duty Assignment role. Special Duty Assignments are only available to active Career Service King County employees. This assignment is estimated to last up to 6 months, extending as needed. The Utility Worker team performs a wide variety of maintenance and equipment operation duties not associated with journey-level work in any skilled trade. Responsibilities

Perform minor maintenance and repairs to facilities, grounds and structures, including preventive maintenance and inspection, and repairs from vandalism and emergencies. Operate power tools including drills, saws, jackhammer, roto-hammer, chain saws and pressure washers. Assist journey-level trade workers who perform carpentry, plumbing and electrical work. Maintain daily logs and complete work requests. Assist in construction and/or remodel of simple County structures. Load and drive various types of trucks including dump and box trucks. Lift, carry, move office furniture and equipment using moving equipment and manual methods. Other duties as assigned. Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

One year of demonstrated work experience performing physical tasks related to this position. Predictable and reliable attendance. Knowledge of basic use and care of tools and equipment. Ability to get along and work effectively with others. Ability to work as part of a team. Basic knowledge of building craft and mechanical trades. Knowledge of safety procedures. Skill in using road maps. Ability to take direct orders, work assignment and communicate effectively with the supervisor. Pre-employment Requirements

Valid Washington State Driver's License and ability to travel throughout King County. Five-year Washington State Complete Driver's Abstract required. Final appointment contingent upon acceptable driving history, fingerprint-based criminal history check, reference checks, and a pre-employment physical examination. Application Process

Non-exempt and overtime eligible. Bi-weekly pay; typical schedule Monday–Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. Represented by SEIU Local 925. First Responder designation for emergency response duties. EEO and Benefits
