Overview
Pratt & Whitney is transforming the future of flight. This position is within Pratt & Whitney’s Connecticut based Global Supply Chain Machine and Fabrications product center. The manufacturing engineer will support part manufacturing in our supplier base as we ramp production on our Geared Turbo Fan and F135 engine programs along with delivering spare parts for our legacy military and commercial engines. This role is for an experienced engineer to provide guidance and expertise at our various suppliers producing the Hot/Cold Section Module Suppliers. This is an onsite role located in East Hartford, CT. U.S. citizenship or equivalent security requirements apply for eligibility to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
What You Will Do
Support suppliers with manufacturing processing and methods required to manufacture complex jet engine parts.
Assist suppliers with manufacturing methods and processes for machining, sheet metal, forming, forging and processing on complex engine parts.
Provide manufacturing producibility input to designs and part family process standards.
Identify and address long-term recommendations to reduce throughput times and increase quality.
Evaluate supplier manufacturing readiness and proactively support and resolve readiness issues.
Identify and implement supplier process improvements that increase output and reduce costs, including automation and robotics.
Review process yields and rates and suggest improvements.
Participate in manufacturing reviews, transitions, new product introduction reviews, and manufacturing standard work improvements.
Provide manufacturing process options, propose trade studies, and evaluate process maturity.
Evaluate tooling, testing concepts and equipment; participate in lean manufacturing initiatives for continuous improvement.
Provide urgent manufacturing support for critical supply issues and assist suppliers with root cause and corrective actions.
Apply manufacturing readiness level (MRL) tools such as PFMEA, Process Control Plan, Yield Curve, etc.
Travel up to 30% (domestic and international).
Qualifications You Must Have
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related field and 5 years of experience; or an advanced degree with 3 years of experience.
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Role Type Onsite: Employees will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers essential to the development of our engines.

Salary and Benefits The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability coverage, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, and paid time off. Specific benefits depend on the business unit and whether the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Equity and incentive programs may apply depending on level and agreement.
