Overview

Job Title: Collections Senior Specialist Department: Business and Finance | Office of the Bursar Location: Student Academic Services (0160) Position Type: Regular Scheduled Hours: 40 Shift: First Shift Responsibilities

Serve as a member of the central collection services area in the Office of the University Bursar. Provide fiscal, operational, consultative, and administrative support to students, parents, external customers, and departments. Act as a subject matter expert in compliance and collection of past due student receivables, student loans, and departmental accounts receivable. Demonstrate expert understanding of university systems, integrations, policies, and operational procedures to resolve complex account issues. Understand the student registration and enrollment process, including financial aid, residency, records, and registration, and how these interact with and impact student billing. Make outbound calls and send emails to debtors, references, places of employment, and third parties. Work collaboratively with students, university staff, and outside entities; develop working relationships and operate with a high degree of autonomy. Attend trainings, staff, department and project meetings; handle sensitive and confidential information; may work evenings and weekends. Perform special duties as assigned. Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Two (2) years of experience in collections and/or financial counseling. Strong knowledge of first-party collections; strong negotiation, interpersonal and customer service skills; detail oriented; strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively to solve problems. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite with moderate to advanced Excel skills. Desired Qualifications

PeopleSoft Student Financials and Workday experience. Knowledge of university policies and procedures related to delivery of services to students. Collection experience in a higher education environment. Additional Information
