OVERVIEW The Communications Specialist, Social Media, will be responsible for supporting USCRI’s efforts to expand the organization’s visibility and enhance its reputation using social media channels and tools. Through effective social media strategies, creative storytelling, and content creation, the Communications Specialist will be a critical member of the Communications team. The ideal candidate will enhance brand awareness and increase social media traffic and engagement. This position will report to the Director of Policy and Communications and work closely with the rest of the Communications team. This is a fast-paced work environment, and the ideal candidate will be able to prioritize tasks and pivot to address emerging issues that are relevant to USCRI’s work.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This job description identifies the key responsibilities and expectations for work performance; however, it does not encompass all specific job responsibilities that you may be required to perform.
Manages and executes campaigns across various digital channels including X (Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Bluesky. Ensures brand consistency in tone, style, and messaging across all social channels.
Develops social media marketing strategies that align with the organization’s communications goals, including defining key performance indicators (KPI) and measuring campaign success. Monitors analytics and prepares regular reports on performance, engagement, and reaches across platforms to inform future strategy; proactively develops and manages the organization's social media content calendar.
Experience developing and producing longer-form video content for YouTube and other social platforms, with a focus on storytelling and audience engagement, is an asset.
Role focuses heavily on content creation – writing, creating, and posting content such as blogs, videos, graphics, and other updates – regularly collaborating with the Communications and policy teams and other departments.
Provides guidance and support to staff contributing to social media content and coordinates with external partners or vendors as needed.
Develops and manages paid social media campaigns, including budget oversight and performance optimization.
Conducts market research and analyzes trends to identify new opportunities and improve campaign performance.
Stay up to date with emerging social media trends and technologies.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field – or equivalent professional experience – preferred.
2+ years of experience in social media marketing or related fields, including a history of increasing audience engagement on social media platforms.
Experience using Hootsuite Sprout Social or similar tools to manage/schedule social media posts.
Excellent analytical skills and experience with social media analytics tools.
Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate with a diverse range of individuals.
Graphic design skills necessary, including the ability to closely follow brand guidelines.
Experience editing videos for social media necessary.
Experience using WordPress to create and edit webpages a plus.
Experience working for a nonprofit organization and/or passion for the mission of USCRI.
Knowledge of, experience with, or willingness to quickly learn about global humanitarian, refugee, and immigration issues preferred.
Must be a self-starter with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks at once.
Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Satisfactory completion of USCRI’s Orientation and Training; and
Complete additional training as identified by supervisor or Human Resources.
