Position Summary The Department of Art at Metropolitan State University of Denver invites applications for part‑time affiliate faculty teaching positions in Art Education.

Responsibilities

Teach one to three classes in art education, which may include arts and creative thinking, introduction to art education, and inclusive art classroom instruction. Courses may be offered in person, online, or hybrid.

Design, deliver, and evaluate course content; prepare lesson plans, course materials, and assessments; provide timely feedback and academic support to students; comply with university, college, and department policies; and meet student evaluation and peer observation requirements.

Adapt instruction to meet the educational needs of a diverse student population and remain agile in new modes of instruction.

Required Qualifications

MA or MFA in Art or Art Education, or a MAT.

Three years of professional and/or teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications

MFA or Doctorate in Art or Art Education, plus three years of teaching experience in K‑12 and knowledge of contemporary art education practice and theory.

Experience working with and sensitivity to the needs of a diverse urban student population, including students of color, LGBTQIA, low‑income, first‑generation, students with disabilities, undocumented students, non‑traditional students, student veterans, and English‑language learners.

Terms of Employment Affiliate faculty are part‑time, at‑will employees hired to teach on a per credit hour basis for specific classes, usually on a semester‑by‑semester basis. Affiliate faculty are not eligible for benefit coverage under the university’s benefit program. All teaching assignments are dependent on budget and enrollment.

Salary for Announcement The final salary is based on the number of credit hours assigned at a rate determined by university policy.
