This position conducts criminal investigations involving fraud against the California Medical Assistance Program (Medi-Cal) by providers of medical and related services; patient abuse and neglect in Medicaid certified facilities; and the diversion of pharmaceutical drugs by Medi-Cal providers. The incumbent will conduct investigations, undercover operations, and coordinate with prosecutors and other law enforcement agencies. Duties include preparing written investigative reports, serving search warrants, gathering evidence, and testifying in court. Duties are performed with an emphasis on community interaction and collaborative problem solving. Responsibilities

Conduct criminal investigations involving fraud against Medi-Cal, patient abuse/neglect in Medicaid facilities, and drug diversion by Medi-Cal providers. Conduct undercover operations and gather evidence including computer hardware and data; use investigative tools and software for data analysis and case preparation. Prepare written investigative reports and coordinate investigations with other law enforcement agencies. Prepare and serve search warrants; testify in court and make arrests as required. Work closely with prosecutors in preparing cases for court. Maintain and use protective equipment and other investigative equipment. Adhere to Penal Code Section 13651 with emphasis on community interaction and collaborative problem solving. Position Details

Range B applies to individuals with the equivalent of 24 months experience in Range A or other eligibility criteria. Salary differentials: Agents with an associate degree or intermediate POST certificate receive a 2.5% differential; those with a bachelor’s degree or advanced POST certificate receive 5% differential.
