Scope and Purpose of Position Under general supervision, the Food Pantry Coordinator / Office Aide supports the Corps Officer(s) in a professional, religious and charitable environment. The coordinator conducts themselves in a professional, friendly manner with all individuals entering the Corps Building or contacting by telephone. The role requires the ability to build good relationships, maintain confidentiality, and handle matters with diplomacy. Administratively supports the Corps office to ensure it is organized and represents The Salvation Army well.
Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities):
Interview clients for food, clothing, utility or other assistance (regular or seasonal)
Input client information into the computer data system (where applicable)
Make referrals and phone contacts for clients to other agencies providing needed services
Maintain accurate and organized statistics and files on social assistance clients
Coordinate volunteers assigned to the food pantry
Coordinate ordering, delivery, and stocking of the food pantry
Coordinate volunteers to pick up donated food for the gleaming program
Assist individuals making gifts-in-kind donations
Assist in upkeep and maintenance of the physical site
Assist in application preparation for funding sources
Manage the efficient operation of the office, including handling telephone and other communications for the Corps Officers, receiving and directing visitors, handling mail, and scheduling meetings
Maintain inventory of office supplies and notify when orders are needed
Ensure proper filing of correspondence and documents
Identify and refer clients to the Corps Officer for pastoral care when opportunities arise
Assist with administration of seasonal fundraising projects
Assist with other related tasks as requested by officers
Specific tasks include: answering the front door, interviewing and distributing emergency food, daily assistance with loading/unloading food donations, reporting statistics, providing inventory updates, maintaining stock levels, and keeping records organized
Other duties as assigned by Corps Officers
Qualifications SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Strong written and verbal communications, positive attitude, initiative, flexibility, and dependability
High level of confidentiality, discretion, and good judgment
Empathy and compassion in action and speech
Good organizational skills with attention to detail
Good computer skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
Ability to work effectively with minimal daily supervision
A valid drivers license that meets The Salvation Army insurance requirements
