Overview The Multnomah County Department of Community Services is seeking a full-time
Program Technician
to join the team. The role serves as the first point of contact at the Yeon Complex reception counter for internal and external customers needing information or support with Land Use Planning or Transportation applications or needs. You will interact with agency staff, community members, and staff from other departments and agencies to provide high level and technical in-person service while ensuring compliance with county customer service goals.
Primary Responsibilities
Manage and respond to all phone inquiries and email inquiries for Land Use Planning and Transportation
Route specialized inquiries to appropriate staff, including 10 delegated email accounts
Assist in the development, design, and maintenance of websites, databases, and software programs that interface with customers (e.g. EP&L, Salesforce, Cartegraph)
Collect, track, and evaluate customer inquiry, permit data and statistics
Organize records and files related to permits and inspections
Serve as the back-up permit review coordinator to assign tasks to planners
Review current planning, code compliance, and permit applications for basic requirements for processing and ensure compliance with federal and state laws
Issue nondiscretionary overdimensional truck hauling permits
Manage and route all phone calls and complaints for Road Maintenance
Sort and distribute external and interoffice mail for the complex
Call in work orders to facilities for maintenance needs
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university (equivalent experience may substitute for a degree)
One (1) year of complex administrative/technical clerical experience
One (1) year of direct customer service

Ability to navigate multiple complex databases and document work with consumers
Ability to adapt to change
Ability to follow standard office procedures and learn specific software programs
Transferable skills: describe any transferable skills on your application

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Work Location: John B. Yeon Annex, 1600 SE 190th Ave., Portland, OR 97233. Onsite primarily; ad hoc telework is unscheduled

Equal Pay Law : Pay range is guidance; actual compensation determined by Oregon Equal Pay Law and experience/education. Initial offers may not be at the top of the range.
