GEICO is hiring an

Associate Legal Assistant

to perform mid-level legal assistant and administrative duties for a Staff Counsel Office. In this role you will develop a working knowledge of legal concepts, practices, and Staff Counsel procedures applicable by jurisdiction, draft/revise routine legal documents, handle multiple administrative and legal tasks to support attorneys, participate in preparation of pleadings, routine motions, notices, jury demands, routine discovery, review invoices, prepare/send checks. Salary and grade will be commensurate with experience. Responsibilities

Perform mid-level legal assistant and administrative duties to support Staff Counsel Office. Draft/revise routine legal documents and participate in preparation of pleadings, motions, notices, jury demands, routine discovery, and routine discovery disclosures. Review invoices and assist with expense procedures; prepare and send checks as needed. Coordinate training and onboarding support for Staff Counsel Support Staff and maintain relationships with attorneys, outside departments, courts, clients, and third parties. Manage and monitor court filings and suits via mail, in person, or e-filing. Maintain attorney and office calendars, including scheduling depositions, EUOs, trials, conferences and hearings. Assist in the discovery process, including gathering medical records and discovery documents and coordinating their completion and signature for filing. Communicate with clients, claims personnel, adversaries and tribunals as needed; refer complex inquiries to the appropriate attorney. Qualifications

Based on jurisdiction, may need to obtain and maintain a notary license. 2 years’ experience as a legal secretary, paralegal or legal assistant handling personal injury litigation matters. Experience preparing routine pleadings, motions, petitions, prehearing and arbitration statements, notices, and routine correspondence within a case management system for attorney review and signature. Experience handling court filings and managing documents via mail, in person, or e-filing; familiarity with paper and electronic mail. Knowledge of maintaining attorney and office calendars, scheduling depositions, courts, and hearings. Experience reviewing invoices for policy compliance with company procedures. Strong communication with clients and colleagues; ability to route complex inquiries to the appropriate attorney. Location

Los Angeles, CA (Hybrid) Salary

$23.00/hr - $37.00/hr Additional information
