Assistant Building Engineer – Multifamily – Basalt
Basalt, CO – Annual salary range: $70,000.00 – $75,000.00.
Under the direct supervision of the General Manager, the Engineer will be responsible for delivering and maintaining all facilities of a residential high‑rise building, ensuring compliance with City, County, State, OSHA, and all governmental agency mandates.
Location Between Aspen and Glenwood Springs, near Basalt and Carbondale.
Schedule Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. On‑call 24/7 as needed.
What You’ll Do
Engineering management of a residential facility, including common areas, amenity space, and parking garage.
Provide quarterly cost analysis and cost projections for all utilities, chilled water, electrical, gas, and maintenance items (filters, belts, valves, equipment).
Conduct efficiency analysis and energy‑savings audits on a quarterly basis.
Create, execute, and maintain an automated preventative‑maintenance program for all building components.
Implement and maintain all required maintenance SOPs as directed by the GM and VP of Risk Management.
Maintain any "green energy" qualifications of the building.
Coordinate, maintain, and keep current all building component inspections.
Supervise the full maintenance team and other departments as assigned by the GM; develop training to ensure excellence in job performance.
Build and maintain strong relationships with outside vendors.
Coordinate contracted services and repairs, in partnership with the GM.
Keep complete and accurate records of all maintenance requests submitted, commented on, and completed.
Be available for "on‑call" after hours, weekends, and holidays, and for emergencies as needed.
Ensure all safety precautions and procedures are followed while performing assigned duties.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience, preferably in high‑rise facilities.
Specific knowledge of high‑rise electrical, plumbing, stair pressurization, elevators, and mechanical systems.
Proficiency in safety systems, elevator systems, fire pump and safety system knowledge, trash room/compactor knowledge.
Experience with BuildingLink and Vantaca building‑management software.
Understanding that condo construction is ongoing and requires management of partial‑occupancy issues.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
