Merwel Inc
Overview
Merwel Inc. is a digital consulting and technology services firm that helps mission-driven organizations modernize their technology to create measurable impact. Merwel’s Digital Platforms team is seeking a Scrum Master to drive agile delivery for enterprise-grade Test Data Management (TDM) and Data Privacy initiatives within a large U.S. financial-services modernization program. You will enable cross-functional teams (data engineering, platform, QA, security, and application squads) to deliver secure, compliant, and scalable test-data capabilities spanning data masking, synthetic data generation, and self-service provisioning across distributed and mainframe environments. Your leadership will accelerate value delivery, reduce risk, and strengthen compliance. Responsibilities
Facilitate the Scrum framework for 1–2 product teams (events, artifacts, transparency) and ensure adherence to agile values. Deliver outcomes for TDM/Data Privacy initiatives (masking, synthetic data, subsetting/virtualization) by partnering with Product Owner(s) to define clear goals, measurable increments, and release strategies. Backlog stewardship & flow enablement: coach on thin vertical slices; maintain well-groomed and prioritized backlogs aligned to risk, compliance, and business value; manage cross-team dependencies and critical path. Impediment removal & risk management: proactively surface and resolve blockers related to data access, masking policies, data-fabric integration, mainframe coordination, and environment readiness. Agile metrics & insight-driven improvement: establish and socialize meaningful measures (throughput, cycle/lead time, P50/P90, escaped defects, DOR/DOD adherence); enable actionable dashboards (e.g., Jira/ADO + DQ/lineage signals) to guide decisions. Engineering excellence enablement: support adoption of CI/CD, test automation, data-contract testing, and environment provisioning patterns that improve reliability of TDM pipelines. Stakeholder communication & governance: provide crisp status, risk/issue logs, and decision records; coordinate with Security, Privacy, and Compliance for policy sign-off and audit evidence. Coaching & culture: mentor teams and leaders on Scrum, Kanban-for-ops, and scaled patterns (as needed); foster continuous improvement, psychological safety, and outcome orientation. Release & environment orchestration: collaborate with scheduling/orchestration teams (e.g., Control-M/Autosys/CA-7) to align data refresh windows, cutovers, and recovery plans; champion resilient runbooks. Domain alignment: ensure TDM work preserves data fidelity for testing (e.g., PAN Luhn validity, referential integrity, deterministic masking) while meeting privacy requirements. Qualifications
Required Qualifications
5+ years as a Scrum Master or Agile Delivery Lead in data-centric or enterprise software environments. Proven success facilitating delivery for TDM, data privacy/masking, or data platform initiatives in regulated contexts (financial services preferred). Solid command of Scrum and complementary flow practices (Kanban, metrics for flow efficiency, WIP management, service-level expectations). Hands-on experience with modern agile tooling (Jira or Azure DevOps), creating useful radiators/dashboards, and shaping OKRs aligned to product goals. Strong facilitation, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills; experienced working with distributed teams and multiple workstreams. Familiarity with K2View or comparable TDM/data-fabric platforms, and comfort partnering with engineers/architects on technical impediments. Excellent written and verbal communication tailored to executives and delivery teams. Preferred Qualifications
Background supporting initiatives that involve mainframe coordination (JCL, CA-7) and integration with distributed data stores (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, DB2, Snowflake/Redshift, data lakes). Exposure to data privacy techniques (format-preserving encryption, tokenization, reversible/irreversible masking) and synthetic data strategies. Experience aligning delivery with security, compliance, and audit (PCI, GDPR/CCPA), including evidence collection and change control. Experience in CI/CD-oriented environments (GitHub/GitLab/Bitbucket, Jenkins) and collaboration with SRE/Platform teams for environment stability and release safety. Professional certifications (e.g., CSM/PSM, KMP) are valued; practical outcomes matter most.
