FirstEnergy is hiring for an HR Application Configuration Analyst A to design, develop, and support the Empower Oracle HCM solution and related HR technologies. The role partners with HR, IT and business units to deliver secure, efficient, and scalable solutions that follow Oracle HCM Cloud best practices and FirstEnergy’s HR technology strategy. The position participates in full lifecycle implementations, supports data conversions and analytics, and provides training and documentation to ensure adoption across HR teams.

Responsibilities

Application Development: design, develop, test and deploy technical components in Oracle HCM Fusion (e.g., Fast Formulas, HCM Extracts, BI Publisher reports, OTBI dashboards); configure security roles and duties to align with segregation of duties and SOX requirements; build and maintain interfaces and integrations between Oracle HCM and internal/external systems using BI Publisher, OTBI, HDL/HSDL, FBDI, REST/SOAP web services; develop inbound/outbound integrations with third‑party providers (payroll, benefits) using Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC) and secure SFTP; customize workflow approvals and support extensions via Oracle VBCS; maintain HR security for ITNow HR products.

System Enhancements & Support: translate functional requirements into technical specifications; deliver solutions across the full implementation lifecycle; provide Tier‑3 HR Help Desk support; develop and maintain technical documentation and Empower configuration workbooks; participate in quarterly release testing and regression mitigation; train HR/IT stakeholders and mentor junior developers to sustain HR technology.

Testing & Quality Assurance: develop and execute unit, system, regression and UAT test plans; collaborate with HR/IT to ensure system accuracy, performance, and stability; support SIT/UAT, participate in code reviews, and follow SDLC/Agile practices.

Data, Reporting & Security: design and manage data conversions and data validations using HDL/HSDL/FBDI; optimize data structures for reporting; enforce data governance, access controls, encryption standards, and SOX/privacy compliance; design dashboards and KPIs using Oracle Analytics Cloud, OTBI and BI Publisher; contribute to SOX IT HR controls.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement: partner with HR Centers of Expertise and IT to evaluate processes and implement improvements; contribute to HR technology strategy and stay current with Oracle releases; lead or contribute to full lifecycle HCM projects; mentor team members and align development with long‑term goals.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or associate degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Computer/Management Information Systems with 4 years of related experience; or minimum 6 years of related experience in lieu of a degree. Related experience includes IT support services, application administration/configuration/development, and experience with database query tools (e.g., QlikView, TOAD, MS Access); Oracle HCM Cloud implementations are highly desirable.

Hands‑on development experience with Oracle HCM Fusion Cloud modules (Core HR, Payroll, Absence, Benefits, Talent, Compensation, Recruiting) and related tools; proficiency in Fast Formulas, HCM Extracts, BI Publisher, OTBI, HDL/HSDL, FBDI and spreadsheet loaders; advanced SQL/PL‑SQL skills.

Experience with Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC) for building and troubleshooting integrations; strong knowledge of REST/SOAP APIs, web services, SFTP and security protocols.

Experience designing dashboards and KPIs with Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC) and OTBI; ability to translate business metrics into actionable reports; strong understanding of Oracle HCM Cloud security concepts and SOX/compliance requirements.

Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions and document them with requirements, design specs and test scripts; experience with project management and Agile/Scrum practices; knowledge of code version control (e.g., Git) and change management.

Excellent communication and mentoring skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non‑technical HR stakeholders; Oracle HCM Cloud certifications are preferred.
