Water/Wastewater Engineer and Utility Designer III
Gainesville Regional Utilities\' Water/Wastewater Department is currently seeking a Utility Engineer in the Engineering Asset Management and Pipeline Infrastructure group. This position involves routine professional and technical engineering work coordinating the planning, designing, permitting, and implementation of critical water distribution and wastewater collection pipeline projects. Preparation, review, and approval of engineering plans utilizing AutoCAD, specifications, and permits for water distribution and wastewater collection system projects. Managing infrastructure rehabilitation programs, such as lining of gravity sewer mains and manholes, smoke testing, and integrity testing. Assisting in coordination with internal departments, outside consultants, and contractors regarding construction, rehabilitation, or repair of water and sewer mains. Preparation of detailed cost estimates for budget planning and construction projects. Assisting in the inspection of construction work to determine whether proper materials and workmanship are used and in compliance with plans and specifications. Assisting in coordination with City, County, and State agencies regarding planning, design, permitting and construction activities associated with water and wastewater utility relocation within public rights-of-way. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering preferred. Valid State of Florida “Engineering Intern” license may be required for Water/Wastewater Valid Professional Engineer license preferred Experience with Civil 3D and ArcGIS preferred Continuing education required to maintain currency in assigned engineering discipline Education, Licenses, and Certifications
Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program and six (6) years of experience in the area of assigned engineering responsibility Supervisory experience may be required Licenses: Valid State of Florida Engineering Intern or Engineer-in-Training, and/or Professional Engineer licensure as applicable Notes
This classification is advanced, independent professional and technical engineering work with accountability for work product. Positions report to a designated supervisor and operate under general supervision with guidance on unusual or non-typical problems. Seniority level
