The Communications & Marketing unit within the Office of Vice President for Research & Innovation is responsible for crafting and disseminating strategic messaging that highlights USF’s research achievements, innovation initiatives, and global impact. The department supports internal and external communications, media relations, branding, digital content, and event promotion. The Senior Graphic Designer plays a pivotal role in shaping USFRI's brand identity, elevating our marketing communications, and delivering engaging web experiences. Responsibilities
Graphic design - Drive the conceptualization and execution of visually stunning designs for branding, marketing campaigns, websites, and digital assets. Create infographics, flyers, brochures, signs, and banners according to the university brand guidelines and style guides. Design and produce print materials, publications, programs, handbooks, and booklets for events. Web design and development - Design and build responsive websites and landing pages using HTML, CSS, and modern web technologies. Manage websites using WordPress. Be familiar with themes, plugins, Gutenberg blocks, styles, formatting, security, updates, and backups. Digital signage - Create and manage the graphic design and layout of digital signage displays, kiosks, TV screens, and other multimedia platforms. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree and 0-2 years of related experience. Advanced knowledge in brand management, digital and print design, and project management tools. Demonstrated experience in leadership, training, and strategic design execution. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Web Design, or related field with at least five years of professional graphic design experience. Strong portfolio demonstrating a range of design skills and creative problem-solving. Senate Bill 1310- The Florida Senate (https://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2023/1310) is conditional upon meeting all employment eligibility requirements in the U.S. Required A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an alternative to the number of years of direct experience required, not to exceed: Two years of direct experience for an associate degree; Four years of direct experience for a bachelor’s degree; Six years of direct experience for a master’s degree; Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure, certification, or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment. Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310. Special Skills
Expert proficiency in Canva and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, XD, etc.) Advanced knowledge of HTML and CSS; familiarity with JavaScript is a plus. Experience with web development tools and content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Webflow). Knowledge of accessibility standards in digital design. Additional Information For Applicants
