Job Description

Overview JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the School Age Director, the Site Coordinator is responsible for programming and supervision of the School Age licensed program. The Site Coordinator will plan and implement a program of activities which will ensure each child’s personal safety while providing entertainment, physical challenges, and learning experiences. The Site Coordinator is responsible for all billing and timely collection of payments. The Site Coordinator will uphold the employee code of conduct and will ensure that all areas of the job responsibilities reflect the mission of the Old Colony Y, and the regulating agency. S/He will display and encourage the character traits of caring, responsibility, honesty and respect in the fulfillment of all job duties.

Responsibilities

Understand and ensure EEC regulations as well as Old Colony Y policies (Child and Youth Care policy, Child Guidance Policy, Health Care Policy) are maintained at all times.

Plan, develop, and implement the program curriculum in accordance with EEC regulations and Old Colony YMCA policies.

Tailor school age lesson plans to the needs of individual children with regard to interests, abilities, cultural diversity, and pacing of learning.

Provide leadership of daily activities, including but not limited to: Y Chat, Asset Curriculum, BOKS, Fun/Food Curriculum.

Understand and maintain QRIS standards.

Act in a public relations capacity when communicating with parents, school personnel and potential clients.

Supervise the program’s children in all locations and during trips.

Complete necessary documentation (accident reports, incident reports, attendance records) and forward copies to the School Age Director.

Provide input for weekly staffing schedules.

Family Strengthening: Ensure timely issuance of a monthly newsletter/calendar of events for families.

Act as a positive role model and maintain proper behavior of children with adherence to the YMCA Child Guidance Policy and Child Care Policy.

Ensure Fun/Food Curriculum, menu planning and guidelines meet HEPA standards.

Maintain attendance records and ensure all reports and paperwork are submitted accordingly.

Meet with the School Age Director as directed.

Provide leadership in weekly site staff meetings and monthly asset/school age curriculum meetings.

Collect, record and receipt payments and billing according to Y parent payment schedule.

Provide monthly Bureau of Nutrition reports where applicable.

Establish and maintain effective training programs, conferences, and courses for professional growth.

Establish and maintain working relationships with school or site-specific personnel.

Supervision

Organize, facilitate and document regular meetings with staff to ensure work plans are followed.

Attend mandatory training sessions and all site coordinator meetings.

Recruit, hire, supervise, train, and evaluate school age staff and volunteers.

Fiscal Responsibilities

Organize purchase of supplies through the School Age Director.

Ensure maximum enrollment is achieved.

Assist with the Annual Campaign and other fundraising events.

Adhere to fiscal policies and procedures (purchase orders, expense forms, tuition payments).

Facility/Housekeeping

Ensure a clean, organized, and safe program space.

Communicate facility issues to appropriate staff for timely resolution.

Volunteer/Committee/Inter-divisional

Actively participate on assigned committees and with the Y’s Annual Campaign.

Promote Y programs through public appearances and presentations.

Attend at least 20 hours of childcare training annually.

Requirements

Minimum of 20 years of age.

B.S. or B.A. with 9 months experience with school age children, or high school diploma/equivalent plus 1 year working with school age.

CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.

Evidence of physical examination within last 12 months.

Negative Mantoux TB test and immunity for measles, mumps, and rubella.

Ability to create and sustain a culture of excellence and work as part of a cohesive team.

Ability to lift/move heavy equipment and to assist with cleaning when necessary.

Will sometimes work early mornings, late nights and weekends.

Strong oral communication skills for occasional public speaking responsibilities.

Ability to sit, stand, bend, and lift up to 75 lbs on occasion and 40 lbs frequently (children); move intermittently during work hours.

Ability to understand Y-USA’s three focus areas: Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility; identify and meet the needs of health seekers.
