Power Generation Application Engineer

The Power Generation Application Engineer role is a developmental program designed to train and prepare engineers for future industrial sales positions. This role focuses on learning sales growth strategies, market expansion, and distributor relationship management. The position includes extensive training in product knowledge, sales processes, and customer support, leading to a regional sales role upon program completion.

Minimum Qualifications
Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
1–2 years of design engineering experience.
Willingness to travel up to 75% and relocate outside of Wisconsin after program completion.
Key Responsibilities
Participate in corporate onboarding and training programs.
Complete Generator 101 coursework.
Learn strategic sales planning, market analysis, budgeting, and P&L management.
Gain knowledge of business forecasting and resource allocation.
20% – Develop:
Collaborate with the Continuous Improvement (CI) team to improve sales processes.
20% – Develop:
Work with marketing on initiatives to support sales growth.
20% – Develop:
Build distributor relationships during training with Inside Sales Representatives.
40% – Execute:
Provide technical sales support to distributors and customers.
40% – Execute:
Coordinate custom design options with engineering.
40% – Execute:
Promote natural gas solutions in place of diesel options.
40% – Execute:
Participate in rotations across key product and market segments (e.g., Transfer Switches, Telecom, EPC).
40% – Execute:
Negotiate and close sales contracts.
40% – Execute:
Achieve sales and contribution margin targets.
Other Duties
Special projects as assigned.
Participate in sales process training programs.
Act as SAP Super User within the assigned functional area.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
Strong organizational abilities and self-motivation.
Financial analysis capability.
Willingness to work independently in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
