Botany and Plant Pathology Department at Purdue University Job Summary: Report to and work collaboratively with the Associate Director for Aquatics to manage all aquatics facilities and programs to meet the needs of the university community, while promoting the department's mission. Build, develop, and cultivate relationships with campus constituents. Stay informed of local, regional, and national trends in aquatics. Provide leadership in hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating dozens of part-time student staff, including developing learning outcomes and assessing growth. Work collaboratively to ensure programs and services are available to target audiences. Participate in budget allocation and program outreach. Some evening and weekend work is required. What We’re Looking For

Bachelor’s degree in areas such as recreation, sport/aquatic management, or related field. Minimum of 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in a multi-use aquatic facility, supervising programs, staff, and events, preferably in a college setting. Can consider direct graduate experience. Ability to cooperatively manage all aspects of a comprehensive aquatic program and contribute to the development and enhancement of services for the entire university community. Must display ability to establish long and short term operational goals consistent with the mission of the university and the department. Ability to develop and execute comprehensive aquatic staffing and emergency action plans. American Red Cross lifeguard instructor trainer certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment. Ability to instruct and certify staff in Lifeguarding; Lifeguard Instructor; CPR/AED/First Aid; O2 administration; or willingness to obtain instructor trainer certification. Current Certified Pool Operator or Aquatic Facility Operator license or willingness to obtain within 6 months. Must show ability to build, develop, and cultivate relationships across campus with a variety of constituents. Demonstrated ability to plan and implement employee training sessions and supervise a large student workforce. Successful candidate will be self-motivated, energetic, service-minded and adept at solving problems. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse constituents. Must possess strong communication (written/oral) as well as interpersonal skills. Proficiency with computer software (word processing, spreadsheets, electronic communication, etc.).
