Position Details ***This position is contingent upon contract award and will be located onsite in the southeast, southwest, or central United States. Travel will likely be required.***

Duties and Responsibilities

Perform complex chemical, biological, hematological, immunologic, microscopic, and bacteriological tests.

Examine and analyze body fluids and cells; match blood for transfusions.

Familiarity with the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) requirements for blood product maintenance.

Analyze the chemical content of fluids and test for drug levels in blood.

Prepare specimens, count cells, and identify abnormal cells in blood and body fluids.

Analyze test results and communicate findings to physicians.

Create cultures from body fluids and tissue samples to identify microorganisms.

Analyze samples for chemical content and determine concentrations of compounds like glucose and cholesterol.

Evaluate test results, develop and modify procedures, and monitor testing programs for accuracy.

Use universal safety precautions to protect against biohazards, including blood-borne pathogens.

Order and stock supplies; maintain a safe and clean work environment.

Maintain patient records, adjust and maintain equipment, and manage lab operations as needed.

Provide supervision and guidance to other lab staff as a Lead.

Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Completion of a formal Medical Technology training program leading to a Bachelor's Degree.

Certification by AMT, ASCP, or NCA.

Current BLS certification.

At least five years of experience as a Medical Technologist.

At least one year of experience in a Lead role.

Recent clinical experience in direct patient care, with a minimum of 6 months in the last year.

Ability to multi-task, be detail-oriented, organized, and communicate effectively.

Proficiency with computers and MS Office.

Flexibility to adapt to work changes and shift requirements.

Strong problem-solving skills.

Proficiency in English communication skills.

Physical Requirements and Work Conditions

Work typically performed in an office environment.

Sitting and standing for extended periods.
