Position: Assistant – Sports Fields (Panthers)

Department: Stadium Operations – Sports Field Management

Reporting Relationship: Director of Sports Fields & Grounds

Status: Full-Time (Non-Exempt)

Position Summary

This position is responsible for assisting in the execution of the operational plans and procedures of Sports fields at the facilities managed by Tepper Sports & Entertainment including, but not limited to, Bank of America Stadium, Atrium Health Practice Facility, and McAlpine Park Training Facility.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Assist with field testing to ensure league compliance of Field of Play Standards for NFL, MLS, FIFA Quality Pro across all properties.
  2. Assist in the layout, painting, and conversion of the fields for sporting and live events.
  3. Carry out tasks and operational plans assigned by Manager.
  4. Assist with field preparation for all sporting and live events.
  5. Implement cultural practices and maintenance of Sports Fields.
  6. Assist in field preparation and maintenance for NFL training camp.
  7. Calibrate and apply pesticides and fertilizers.
  8. Operate Sports Field Maintenance and landscape equipment and machinery.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Graduation from an accredited University in Turfgrass Science, Agronomy, Related field OR possess Certification from an accredited University.
  2. 1+ Years Experience working in the Sports Field Management industry.
  3. Working knowledge of Sports Field Management.
  4. Ability to execute Agronomic, Best Management, IPM Plans.
  5. Working knowledge of multi-Sport field painting, field layout and measurement, and field preparation for events.
  6. Minimum experience with the use, calibration, and application of pesticides and fertilizers.
  7. Experience using and maintaining various types of equipment used for fields and landscape maintenance.
  8. Working knowledge of pesticide and fertilizer application methods and spraying equipment calibration.
  9. Working knowledge of cultural aspects of Turfgrass management.
  10. Willing to obtain and maintain a pesticide applicator’s license.
  11. Working knowledge of irrigation system operation, repair, and maintenance.
  12. Flexible to work evenings and/or weekends and all Carolina Panthers, Charlotte FC, and Stadium events, including events held on weekends, nights, and holidays when necessary.
  13. Must have a valid driver’s license.
  14. Ability to pass pre-employment screens and background check.
  15. Good verbal and written communication skills.
  16. Able to participate in a team-style work environment.
  17. Ability to communicate with departmental leadership.
  18. Works well under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude.
  19. Flexible and adaptable when preparing for sporting and live events.
  20. Approachable and available to staff and peers.
  21. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  22. Operates with a high level of accountability and professionalism.
  23. Ability to handle confidential, privileged, and/or sensitive information carefully and with sensitivity.
  24. Detail and results-oriented.

Physical Requirements

  1. Standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  2. Sitting and working at a desk on a computer.
  3. Lift at least 50 pounds.
  4. This job operates mostly in an outside environment and in a stadium facility at times which may include inclement weather conditions.
  5. This position operates in a fast-paced working environment with schedules that are subject to change.
