The Boring Company
Overview
Information Technology Technician – Las Vegas, NV
The Boring Company was founded to solve the problem of soul-destroying traffic by creating an underground network of tunnels. Today, we are creating the technology to increase tunneling speed and decrease costs by a factor of 10 or more with the ultimate goal of making Hyperloop adoption viable and enabling rapid transit across densely populated regions.
The Boring Company (TBC) technicians work in a demanding and dynamic environment, supporting a wide range of critical construction, tunneling, and infrastructure deployment activities. The IT Network Infrastructure Team is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting the low-voltage and fiber infrastructure that powers TBC’s tunneling operations in Las Vegas. This role is highly physical and field-oriented, supporting everything from new construction builds to ongoing tunnel operations and system maintenance.
Technicians will regularly support the deployment of TBC’s data path including multi-mile fiber pulls, conduit and ducting installation, and last mile infrastructure work. Technicians will also work hands-on with Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) systems during commissioning, repair, and maintenance, such as fixing data cabling, diagnosing camera systems, and resolving onboard communication issues. There is also an ongoing need for site infrastructure maintenance across office spaces and completed projects, including the Las Vegas Convention Center Loop. This includes adding new network lines, expanding WiFi coverage, installing and repairing surveillance systems, and field troubleshooting deployed IoT and networking equipment. Regular maintenance tasks include replacing damaged fiber/ethernet lines, swapping dead hardware, and ensuring all field devices remain operational.
Additional responsibilities:
Provide end-user support for O365, Google Workspace, VMs, Windows, Ubuntu, printers, network appliances.
Manage device inventory and provisioning for new users.
Generate and maintain technical documentation.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
Valid United States Driver's License
1+ years of experience with conduit work, fiber-optics, low-voltage systems, or related fieldwork
Knowledge of basic electrical components such as conduits, breakers, wires, junction boxes, etc.
Ability to pass the Department of Transportation (DOT) mandated Drug Screening Test
Additional Requirements
Position may require extended hours and weekend work
Ability to lift and haul 25 lbs unassisted
Ability to stand for long periods of time, stoop, bend, push, and pull
Position will require outdoor work in active heavy construction environments
