Position Summary

The Operations Manager is responsible for leading operational excellence within a manufacturing campus on designated shift(s). This role drives daily operations and the collaborative execution of longer-term strategies aligned with the organization’s strategic plan. Success is measured across safety, quality, service, cost, associate engagement, and culture. The role provides critical leadership and coaching to enable continuous team development. This position typically reports to the Manufacturing Manager and has a team of 6-12 Supervisors (direct reports) responsible for leading 100-250 hourly associates (indirect reports).

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Leads by example in a values-based culture, aligns leadership and associates with the company mission, vision, and values; exemplifies servant leadership.
  • Drives regimented cadence (Lean Daily Management) through high shop floor engagement to resolve daily operational and personnel issues with limited oversight.
  • Leads with a continuous improvement mindset to improve KPIs and achieve goals related to safety, quality, service, cost, and engagement.
  • Applies lean tools to drive out operational waste (e.g., CEDAC, DPS, Kaizen).
  • Promotes a safety-focused culture; coaches on safety escalations and engages associates to drive positive change.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA) and Swagelok quality management systems.
  • Ensures products meet or exceed quality requirements; supports the team with containment, disciplined problem solving, and corrective actions while maintaining product flow.
  • Uses business insights to proactively manage labor, capacity, and material constraints; balances resources with business needs.
  • Accountable for executing to budget, understanding production variances, and implementing countermeasures to meet goals.
  • Administers HR systems and policies (conflict resolution, performance management, development, hiring, discipline, termination) with limited oversight and coaching for the team.
  • Develops the supervisory team through coaching, feedback, accountability, and growth opportunities.
  • Ensures alignment across operations and support groups; able to field escalations during non-scheduled hours.

Education And/or Work Experience Requirements

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or significant relevant work experience
  • 4+ years of operations experience (manufacturing or comparable)
  • 2+ years of leadership experience

Preferred:

  • Experience leading other leaders
  • Budget management
  • Fluid systems product knowledge
  • Shop floor manufacturing experience with strong understanding of manufacturing operations

Working Conditions And/or Physical Requirements

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions in compliance with ADA, FMLA and applicable laws.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance in accordance with applicable standards.
