Job Description Summary: This is an academic position responsible for assessing, planning, teaching, and evaluating assigned courses and curriculum within the division. The faculty member also contributes to service and scholarship activities.
Essential Functions:
Assumes responsibility for classroom/clinical/laboratory instruction of assigned courses.
Creates a learning environment that encourages critical thinking, investigation, self-direction, and respect for individual differences.
Evaluates student progress and maintains records.
Stays current with trends and practices in the discipline.
Participates in evaluating student achievement and other college assessment processes.
Demonstrates knowledge of and implements general education philosophy.
Serves on college committees as appointed or elected.
Engages in professional development and scholarly activities.
Participates in peer, self, and course reviews.
Upholds and promotes the Mercy Health Mission and Core Values including compassion, excellence, human dignity, justice, sacredness of life, and service.
Education: Required:
Master's Degree in Nursing or related field
Preferred:
Post Graduate Degree (Ph.D.) in Nursing or a related specialty area, or DNP
Experience:
Two to three years of teaching experience with awareness of student-centered learning and assessment.
Experience in clinical, laboratory, or classroom settings in the appropriate field.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with educational technology; flexibility to meet division and student needs.
Teaching experience at college or university level preferred. Active membership in professional and community organizations. Evidence or potential for scholarly achievement.
