Research Technician I (Flow Cytometry) - Morrison Lab at the Children’s Medical Center Research Institute (CRI), UT Southwestern in Dallas, Texas. The Morrison lab’s goal is to better understand the mechanisms that regulate stem cell function and how cancer cells hijack these mechanisms to enable tumor formation. This role is within the Moody Foundation Flow Cytometry Core facility and reports to Dr. Sean Morrison. The ideal candidate is an organized, proactive professional who will support the lab’s research in a specialized capacity with all aspects of flow cytometry, specimen analysis, core facility utilization scheduling, and training. Establish, maintain, and lead complex operations and analyses of specimens in a research environment. Operate flow cytometers, including sorters and analyzers, maintain equipment, and establish quality control procedures. Work closely with research scientists and assist in the training of new users. Scheduling, record, and track utilization for the facility. What you bring

Education : A bachelor’s degree in biology or a closely related discipline is required. Experience : A minimum of 1 year of flow cytometry experience is required. Previous experience with training others on techniques, creating quality control procedures, and equipment maintenance is preferred. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities : Strong initiative, self-motivation, and capacity for creative problem solving; strong verbal and written communication skills; strong organizational, customer service, and time management skills; strong attention to detail and recordkeeping; proficient computer skills (PC and/or Mac, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.); ability to train others on flow cytometry techniques and equipment usage; ability to work well independently and as part of a team; ability to interact positively with all levels of staff; ability to work efficiently and adapt to changing priorities. Physical Requirements

Remaining in a normal seated or standing position for extended periods; reaching and grasping; dexterity to manipulate objects; communication skills; normal vision and hearing; ability to move materials weighing up to several pounds; exposure to malodorous vapors, low dose radiation, and hazardous materials. HHMI employees are compensated from a total rewards perspective, including competitive pay, health benefits, retirement plans, time off, and wellness programs.
