Position Summary

The Gas Plant Accountant is responsible for accurate accounting, reporting, and analysis of natural gas processing plant operations, including plant settlement, allocation of costs and revenues, reconciliation of volumes, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. A strong understanding of midstream operations, plant processing agreements, and complex allocation methodologies is essential. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare and review monthly plant settlement statements for working interest owners and counterparts. Maintain accurate allocation of natural gas, NGL, and residue gas volumes to appropriate owners and contracts. Reconcile plant volumes, shrink, fuel, and flare against measurement and operational reports. Calculate and record plant processing fees, transportation costs, and fractionation expenses. Coordinate with Operations and Measurement teams to resolve discrepancies in volume and allocation data. Review and interpret gas processing agreements, including percent-of-proceeds, keep-whole, and fee-based contracts. Post journal entries for revenue, expense, and plant-related accruals in the general ledger. Assist in monthly close process, including preparation of account reconciliations and variance analysis. Provide support for audits, regulatory compliance filings, and ad hoc reporting requests. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve processes and ensure accurate financial reporting. Qualifications

Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Preferred: 3+ years of experience in oil and gas accounting, with specific exposure to gas plant or midstream accounting. Knowledge of plant processing agreements and gas balancing concepts. CPA or progress toward CPA preferred. Skills & Competencies

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, complex formulas). Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, P2, Oracle, or similar). Knowledge of GAAP and industry-specific accounting practices. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills for cross-departmental collaboration. Physical Demands

Sitting: Frequently — desk work, computer use, meetings. Standing/Walking: Occasionally — office, facility walkthroughs. Lifting: Up to 20 lbs. Occasionally — files, training materials, safety equipment. Fine Motor Skills: Constantly — typing, writing, computer mouse use. Vision/Hearing Requirements: Required — reading reports, using phones, attending meetings. Environmental Exposure: Rarely — may visit field sites with exposure to weather and noise. Work Environment

Full-time, non-exempt position based at corporate headquarters. Standard office environment with minimal physical demands. Fast-paced, deadline-driven atmosphere requiring attention to detail and time management. Occasional visits to plant or field sites, which may involve exposure to outdoor elements, noise, and industrial equipment.
