The staff accountant is responsible for preparing and compiling financial statements for our external clients, along with helping our clients with other accounting functions that their business might need. Professional Responsibilities
Works with financial statements, general ledger maintenance and bank reconciliations Assist with the compilation of balance sheets and income statements Create and maintain client financial transactions records Compile financial reports for client management, such as cash revenue and expenditure analysis, accounts payable and receivable Assists clients with month-end closings Maintains cash, accounts receivable and accounts payable Maintains inventory ledgers and other full-scare bookkeeping responsibilities Checks figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes Complies with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations Performs financial calculations, such as amounts due, interest charges, balances, discounts, equity, and principal Possesses knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data Understands the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making Ability to determine how a client’s system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes Develops relationships with clients to help ensure the information flow from the client to the team is efficient Frequently works with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, ProFx, QuickBooks, Sage 50, Sage Intacct and Bill.com Personal Responsibilities
Pass the CPA exam Develop excellent oral and written communication skills, while also creating specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships and maintain them over time Attend professional development and training sessions on a regular basis Maintain and expand knowledge base in area of expertise Take proactive career steps through mentoring program Participate in recruiting efforts as needed Represent the Firm in a manner consistent with our values and Five Star philosophy Maintain and continue to develop Excel skills Develop ability to receive and provide constructive feedback Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in accounting Current CPA license a plus 1+ years of public accounting experience or 3+ years of industry experience Ability and willingness to travel to clients occasionally within the Firm’s market area Benefits
