Full-time | Direct Hire | Remote Position - Working Eastern Time Hours
We seek a production DB2 DBA to manage DB2 databases on the IBM i for a large enterprise client. This is a remote position working Eastern time business hours. Candidates must live in the US, preferably on the East Coast. Responsibilities
Administration, capacity planning, engineering/design, performance monitoring, and optimization of the DB2 for IBM i database platform. Supports the design and implementation of new database environments and the redesign of existing systems to fulfill business needs. Monitors and evaluates the performance of IBM i DB2 databases; troubleshoots database performance issues. Manages database objects including libraries, views, tables, stored procedures, and triggers. Supports developers and the testing team by maintaining test environments and configuring databases to development specifications. Works with application development teams to develop data models that support business processes. Ensures DB changes adhere to best practices and reviews all proposed database changes proposed by IBMi development team. Creates technical support documentation for databases; acts as an SME on IBMI database structure and environment. Qualifications
10+ years of IBM i/iSeries/AS400 experience. 7+ years of experience supporting DB2 for IBM i databases in an enterprise environment. Experience with key relational database concepts such as database normalization, referential integrity, index strategy, and transaction isolation. Expert knowledge of the DB2 for IBM i SQL language; advanced knowledge of trigger concepts, methodologies, and implementation. In-depth experience diagnosing and remediating DB2 for i database performance issues using tools such as Plan Cache, Visual Explain, Index Advisor, Detailed Database Monitor, or similar tools. Expert knowledge of modern RPG programming language (ILE/Free). Strong analytic and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Hands-on experience with system performance tools such as Job Watcher, Collection Services, PEX Analyzer, or similar tools (preferred). Experience using Turnover, Aldon, or similar change management tools.
