Position Overview MxD is the nation’s destination for innovative manufacturers. We operate a state-of-the-art 75,000 square foot facility in the heart of Chicago on historic Goose Island to further our mission of convening, advancing, and empowering innovative and secure digital manufacturing across the United States. With over 10,000 visitors annually, we seek to deliver a premium experience for our guests, members, and stakeholders on a daily basis. The Events and Operations Coordinator plays an integral role on the Corporate Events team, focusing on the successful planning and execution of internal, partner, and third-party events hosted at MxD. This position is hands-on and highly collaborative, supporting all aspects of event coordination—particularly in meeting logistics, AV setup, and event systems management. The ideal candidate is tech-savvy, detail-oriented, and proactive, with strong communication skills and a customer-first mindset. They will be responsible for ensuring that event spaces are properly set up, meetings run smoothly, and all technology and logistics are in place to deliver a professional and seamless experience for attendees. This role will also serve as a key point of contact for MxD members, providing meeting planning support and ensuring a high level of service. Position Responsibilities

Coordinate and support internal and external events hosted at MxD, ensuring smooth execution before, during, and after each event Set up and operate basic audio-visual equipment (monitors, projectors, microphones, video conferencing setups, etc.) Assist staff, partners, and guests with presentations, virtual meeting platforms (Microsoft Teams, Zoom), and hybrid meeting setups Provide meeting planning support, including space reservations, participant and agenda coordination, room preparation, and materials management Serve as a point of contact for MxD members, departments, and external stakeholders hosting meetings and events, providing guidance and support throughout the planning process Prepare meeting rooms for events, including furniture layout, signage, supplies, and AV checks Monitor and maintain event and visitor management systems (e.g., Mazevo, Envoy), ensuring accurate scheduling and room assignments Communicate effectively with vendors, staff, and clients to support event requirements and logistics Track inventory of AV equipment, furniture, catering, event supplies, and room setup needs Draft and finalize basic vendor orders or rental requests as needed Support data collection related to event space usage, vendor performance, and attendee feedback Must be available to support events that occur during early morning or evening hours, depending on scheduling needs Position Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, Event Management, Communications, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience 2–4 years of experience in event coordination, corporate meeting support, or hospitality services Solid working knowledge of AV equipment, meeting room technology, and video conferencing platforms (Zoom, Teams, Webex) Familiarity with event management tools (e.g., Mazevo, Envoy, or similar scheduling/visitor software) Excellent organization, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment Strong attention to detail and a service-oriented mindset Ability to interface with high-profile individuals Comfortable lifting up to 25 lbs for event setup Must be available to work onsite How to Apply

MxD is a 10-minute walk from the North and Clybourn Red Line stop, a 20-minute walk from the Division Blue Line stop, and accessible by a variety of other public transit options. MxD partners with ABM transportation to provide a free shuttle from various public transit stops in and around the Downtown Chicago area to MxD. Also, MxD provides free parking for employees.
