Position summary
The Safety Manager will plan, implement and supervise project safety in accordance with Federal, State, and local Health and Safety regulations, and Environment (HSE) regulations, site safety and corporate policies. This is a job-site critical position ensuring the health and safety of all employees on the job site. The successful candidate must be CHST certified, be responsive to questions/concerns, have excellent communication with all levels, and strong problem-solving skills. Qualifications context: CHST certification is required; strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential. Responsibilities
Attend jobsite pre-task meetings and work with supervision to identify critical activities and develop relevant work plans (fall protection, excavation, confined space entry, crane pick plans, etc.). Oversee critical work plan activities to ensure adherence to approved plans. Coordinate with General Contractors/owner’s site safety personnel to ensure safety expectations are met and site issues are addressed promptly to avoid delays. Perform jobsite inspections, verify training, PPE, and equipment inspections, and ensure alignment between pre-task plans and daily operations. Ensure field operations comply with OSHA regulations, Murray Company policies, and owner/GC requirements as per contract. Assist with on-site training to ensure employees have required training; help schedule upcoming classes as needed. Train crew members in fall arrest/restraint systems, equipment operation, PPE, tool safety, confined space entry, and other required safety training; conduct daily audits as required by contract. Maintain and update certification training databases and ensure on-site accessibility of training records. Inspect rigging and other safety-related equipment for safe use. Assist with accident/incident investigations, near-miss reporting, and safety alerts; conduct root-cause analysis and implement mitigation measures. Support injured employees through treatment and care coordination; manage work-related injuries and follow-up appropriately. Develop procedures to eliminate hazards discovered through investigations; recommend corrective actions or disciplinary measures as needed. Review job-site safety documentation for compliance; coach and correct as required. Assist in new hire orientation and conduct area surveillance inspections and air sampling as needed for specific operations. Build and maintain strong working relationships with Project Managers to drive positive safety outcomes. Support safety-related items for the project team as needed. Qualifications
Required Certified Health Safety Technician (CHST) certification OSHA 500 5 years of safety oversight experience on construction job sites Basic computer proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel, Bluebeam) Preferred 7+ years of safety oversight experience on construction job sites Experience in safety oversight for plumbing/mechanical contractors B.A. in Occupational Health and Safety, or similar discipline Excellent responsiveness, communication and problem-solving skills Compensation and benefits
