In Kansas City, Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies (FM&T) manages and operates the U.S. Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) Kansas City National Security Campus.This state-of-the-art engineering, manufacturing and sourcing facility produces a wide array of intricate components to deliver trusted national security products and government services primarily for the NNSA.Honeywell FM&T’s culture of integrity, commitment and continuous improvement enables them to deliver responsive, collaborative and innovative management and technology services and products that translate into cutting edge solutions to complex national security issues.
Summary
The Sr Engineer role is a professional level position with minimal supervision performing highly technical and advanced engineering functions on self-identified/self-initiated or assigned projects or programs of a specific nature by applying standard mathematical, physical science, and/or engineering technologies. This professional position could include individuals with experience or a degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Materials, Aerospace, and/or Industrial Engineering.
Duties And Responsibilities
Leads the design and/or project/process management of new and current projects, products, programs, components, tools, and acceptance equipment in collaboration with higher-level technical experts. Drives development of manufacturing or test procedures and performance of routine engineering evaluation tests, product and process capability studies, quality audits, product or project data reviews, and other engineering evaluation work to assure product manufacturability. Prepares evaluation reports, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for product, test equipment, procedures and/or manufacturing or operating processes that improve productivity and quality. Formulates and justifies technical positions to all levels of management. Oversees the acquisition of tooling, gauging and other equipment necessary to manufacture or inspect parts to assure product quality. Partners with internal and external stakeholders to independently resolve complex design, development, production, and acceptance issues. Guides the evaluation and provides input regarding technological advances that improve productivity and quality, reduce flowtime, and enhance operational surety. Recognized as a subject matter expert within the business and provides technical consultation to management and others. Provides mentorship, advice, and insight to other employees to ensure project and product compliance. Responsible for work that may involve longer range and/or complex business objectives in field of expertise. Exerts some influence on the overall objectives and long-range goals of the business unit.
You Must Have
Bachelor of Science degree (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Materials, or Industrial) from an ABET accredited Engineering program or a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from an accredited program. Six or more years of relevant experience in engineering, analytical, or related technical activities. Ability to travel up to 20% of the time Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job. United States Citizenship. Ability to obtain and maintain, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations).

Expert analytical skills and experience with mathematical computations and computer software applications. Demonstrated application of advanced design, development, evaluation, and quality control techniques to complex engineering concepts and projects. Ability to analyze engineering drawings and specifications to develop effective acceptance processes and improve existing processes. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and to influence others to accomplish complex tasks and solve complex technical problems. Familiarity with Six Sigma tools and methodology; Six Sigma certification preferred.
