Senior Bike Mechanic (Level 4) at Sports Basement. Reports to: Lead, Manager, Sr. Manager, Assistant General Manager and General Manager. Supervises: Assigned department staff. Compensation: $24-30 per hour, non-exempt; starting wages depend on location and experience. Apply core values in daily operations, policies, procedures, and safety measures. Demonstrate the value “OK is not OK” and use good judgment in all situations. Work in a fast-paced environment, hustle during shifts, and maintain a positive attitude with creative problem-solving. Customer Service / Service Writing Greet and assist 100% of service customers; communicate clearly about work orders. Provide WOW customer service; be knowledgeable about products and services in your zone. Utilize SB tools (Sales Saver, JSY, LYP, Lightspeed) to deliver excellent service. Maintain clear written and verbal communication with customers about work orders. Mechanic Metrics Maintain labor and repair metrics as defined for your shift; complete repairs/builds at expected pace and ensure customer satisfaction. Proficient in building bikes, wheel building, hydraulic brake servicing, hydraulic systems, electronic shifting, and tire setup (tubular/tubeless). Manage parts ordering and shop workflow; keep bench/work area immaculate. Share knowledge with floor staff and stay current with product knowledge. Follow weekly summaries and document information accurately for customers and staff. Staff Experience & Development Maintain open, approachable communication; participate in zone/department trainings and clinics. Serve as the point person for training zone/department staff. Other duties as assigned. Business Experience Proficient in parts ordering; stay up-to-date with company information and department initiatives. Monitor daily goals and store performance; work with management on staffing and interviews with diversity and inclusion in mind. Assist with delegating tasks, provide clear instructions, and prioritize daily workload while maintaining a positive, engaging environment. Qualifications Previous retail or industry experience; passion for cycling; advocate for all things bikes. Ability to perform tubular and tubeless tire setups; wheel building required. Strong communication skills; basic computer skills; flexibility and adaptability to changing role requirements. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds; standing for long periods; maintain a clean and safe work environment. Experience with relevant tools and software (e.g., Google Docs, Shopify, POS systems, Lightspeed, Sales Saver, etc.). Available to work most weekdays, weekends, and holidays (excluding Thanksgiving and Christmas). Benefits Full health, dental, and optical coverage for full-time staff.
