Overview Job Description: Ensure that our guests have an exceptional hospitality experience and lead a highly trained tasting room team. In addition, manage our outside sales accounts and acquire new accounts. Manage staffing and all aspects of the tasting customer tasting experience. Work with the management team in planning onsite and offsite tasting experiences, including pricing, wine rollouts, and special offers, to maximize the customer experience and sales. Responsible for working in the tasting room during weekends (Fri-Sun).

Responsibilities

Work with the management team in creating the tasting room and event plans; lead the execution of tasting room initiatives and winery event plans to meet hospitality and sales goals.

Assist with the marketing and promotional activities, responsibilities include attending LVWA marketing meetings (e.g. AMAC and other event committees as necessary), assisting with Social Posts, and updating online calendars.

Manage our outside sales accounts which includes checking on existing accounts for new orders, making wine deliveries, and recruiting new customers. This part of the job includes a Commission in addition to the base Salary.

Manage the tasting room staff and scheduling to ensure that tasting room runs smoothly and we provide superb hospitality. Resolve staff and customer issues as they arise.

Recommend and make tasting room and tasting experience improvements to elevate the hospitality experience, increase wine club members, and increase sales.

Conduct wine tastings in our seated areas within the tasting room and on the patio. Tasting experience includes serving the customers the wines, describing the wines, educating customers on vineyards and wine origins, describing sensory aspects of wine, educating on wine regions (particularly Livermore Valley, Napa and Bordeaux), and closing the sale.

Lead the staff training and education on all aspects of the hospitality experience; including wine education, hospitality experience, and wine club.

Be proficient with the POS, Wine Club, Website Updates, Customer and Staff scheduling tools. Assisting with updating POS, online ordering system, reservation system, and staff scheduling system.

Offline activities include planning tasting room/patio for events and tasting experiences, responding to phone and email customer inquiries, creating the weekly tasting flights for standard and reserve tastings, etc…

Assist staff with all aspects of tasting room responsibilities including running the POS, prepping tasting room (i.e. stocking shelves, mopping floors, cleaning tables/bar, cleaning bathroom), and polishing glasses.

Ensure that the tasting room is continuously stocked (snack foods, paper towels, toilet paper, bags, shippers, etc.).

Continually gain experience on hospitality, wine and Cuda Ridge Wines through education and tastings. Attend Cuda Ridge training sessions, staff meetings and Livermore Wine Growers Association training sessions.

Led the staff with setup and execution of winery annual and private events, both at the winery and offsite.

Skills Required

Manager or lead in hospitality for minimum of 2 years

Experience working with customers and peers in a hospitality environment

Passion and knowledge of wine, basic understanding of wine varietals

Basic Computer skills (restarting computer, basic Windows and iPad)

Experience with POS and Wine Club systems

Proficient with Social Media platforms (IG, FB, Reels, etc.)

Valid Driver’s license and transportation to conduct offsite tastings

Must be 21 years or older to serve alcohol

Able to lift 40 pounds (case of wine)

Ability to stand for long periods

Skills/Experience Desired

Manager or lead working in winery, or wine bar, tasting room

Formal wine training (e.g. WSET, SOMM, college courses)

Training and experience with Wine/Food Pairing
