The Role: Store Leader We’re looking for a hands-on, hospitality-driven leader to oversee one of our tasting room locations. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about wine, thrives on creating memorable guest experiences, and is eager to grow a small business. If you love people, lead by example, and bring energy and innovation to your work — this is your perfect blend.
Key Responsibilities
Hospitality & Guest Experience
Set the tone for a warm, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic guest environment
Ensure exceptional service standards and team energy every shift
Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming tasting room
Sales & Business Growth
Drive wine, food, and merchandise sales through coaching and team engagement
Actively promote wine club memberships and upselling opportunities
Partner with ownership on growth initiatives, events, and community outreach
Monitor performance metrics and use data to boost results
Team Leadership & Development
Hire, train, and inspire tasting room staff
Foster a culture of accountability, learning, and fun
Lead regular team meetings, coaching sessions, and wine education
Event Planning & Community Engagement
Plan and execute in-house events, wine education classes, and private tastings
Build relationships with local businesses, community groups, and wine enthusiasts
Represent MBTB at offsite events, festivals, and industry tastings
What We’re Looking For
Must-Haves
2–5 years of experience in hospitality or retail management
Demonstrated success in a guest-facing leadership role
Strong communication, multitasking, and team-building skills
Comfort with POS systems, reporting tools, and inventory software
Ability to lift 40 lbs and stand for long periods
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
Bonus Points
Wine industry experience or WSET/certification
Background in event planning or community outreach
Familiarity with Michigan wines and the local scene
